Activity Classes
Activity classes enhance classroom instruction and incorporate the process skills described in the PASS objectives, Priority Academic Student Skills developed by the Oklahoma State Board of Education. A minimum of 10 students is required to attend an activity class. Classes are approximately 50 minutes in length. Up, Up and Away (stomp rockets) - PK - 8th GradeStudents build and launch a paper rocket while learning Sir Isaac Newton’s three Laws of Motion. Inertia, force and action/reaction are all experienced in one paper rocket. Click here for the teacher guide. Grade 2: PS: 1.1, 1.2, 2.2, 3.1, 3.2 Grade 4: S: 1.1, PS: 1.1 Grade 5: S: 1.1, 1.3, 3.3 Grade 7: PS: 1.1, 3.6 Grade 8: S: 2.2, 4.3, PS: 1.1, 3.6 Discover Space - PK through 2nd GradeUsing inflatable planets, students explore the solar system discussing the characteristics of each planet. Students will draw the inner and outer planets and use their senses while examining meteorite samples. When planning your field trip, consider a planetarium show for a total learning experience. guide. Grade 2: S: 1.1, 3.2 Voyage through Space - 3rd - 5th GradeInteractive exercises allow students to compare the characteristics of planets, including distances and weights. The class will investigate meteorite samples and various minerals. Click here for the teacher guide. Grade 3: S: 1.3, 3.1 Grade 4: S: 1.1, 1.2, 3.1 Weathering the Storm - 4th - 12th GradeClouds form, lightning strikes and tornadoes appear as the class takes a look at air pressure, the water cycle, and make cloud comparisons. Students will observe and participate in various activities concentrating on the development of a storm.
